A new challenger appears

While the biggest franchises in the NBA free-agent race are Chicago and New York, there is one team who is hoping to sneak under the radar and grab the biggest names in sports out from the noses of everyone. This team of course is well known to the public, and has been home to greats such as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Of course I am speaking of the Harlem Globetrotters, who have entered the race to woo Lebron James and Dwyane Wade to their franchise. If they accept the globetrotter's offer they will both receive 51% of the merchandise revenue, as well as part of the team ownership. In fact the globetrotters are so confident that they will get the two superstars to join their ranks that they have begun selling their jerseys in their online store. If the globetrotters did somehow manage to nab the two biggest free-agents on the market I think it would be fair to say that Harlem should be allowed to play in the NBA, though i'm not sure where that would leave their rivals the Washington Generals. Perhaps they could try to pick up Chris Bosh.

2010 NBA Free Agency Preview

Note: These are not opinions of where we think players will/should go, they are just what we have heard.
The biggest free agency period in NBA history is only a little more than a day away. At Midnight Thursday morning EST, or 9 PM in the West, players and teams can start negotiating contracts. Not until a week later on July 8th can players actually sign any contracts. A complete breakdown of what we know about each star is after the break.

Quick Recap of the World Cup's Group Stage

Here's 6 quick points about the Group Stage of the World Cup. Hit the jump for the rest.

1. FIFA refs are either garbage or corrupt, and they hate the USA. Neither "offsides" or "foul" calls that took away important USA goals weren't infractions and everyone but the refs agree.

The NBA Finals Refereeing

I always joked about how "rigged" the NBA is. The word "Sternball" is thrown around a lot also. There was always some truth to that but I didn't think too much of it but now I am getting skeptical. If any part of this series of articles by former NBA ref (now rat) Tim Donaghy is true the NBA has a lot of explaining to do.

Vince Young Turns a Strip Club Into a Fight Club

Titans "QB" Vince Young was caught on video at a strip club in a private room attacking another member of the room. That's really all that is known as of now. The Yahoo! story can be found here.

English Tea Party

Watch Jozy Altidore of the USA National Team kick down a fruity little tea party.

There are no words...

There are really no words which can describe how awesome this past season has been. I would like to personally thank the Toews and the rest of the Hawks for bringing glory back to the franchise and the great city of Chicago. All that can really be said is, FUCK YEAH!

Oh and to all of Philadelphia, you guys are the worst fans in sports. Seriously, your team lost and you decided to boo the Blackhawks for beating them fair and square. Go back to watching Baseball you drunks.

Brits Are Stupid and Apple Fanboys

If you haven't read this list yet get ready to be angry. Tesco Mobile polled England's public about the greatest inventions of all time and they put the iPhone at 8th. That's higher than the toilet, cars, refrigerators, the combustion engine, the mobile phone itself, etc!

Britain be up on Steve Jobs nuts worse than America is.

STEPHEN "SAVIORBURG" STRASBURG (Oh, And Some Other Guys Too)

June 8, 2010 was a historic night for baseball. Strasburg's debut for the Nationals exceeded all expectations and possibilities. Despite his ridiculous hype analysts still predicted he would have a normal debut. The common line was about 6 innings, 3 runs and 5 strikeouts. Ha! Savioburg laughs at you non-believers! His debut after the jump.

Tonight is the long awaited debut of Stephen Strasburg. If you don't know who he is let me use a metaphor to describe this 21 year old kid from San Diego. Hit the jump.

Bash England Week

In celebration for the kickoff of the 2010 World Cup, where the U.S. will be playing England in their first match, we here at 18-1 have decided to show our support for our boys on the ivory coast by bringing back America's favorite pastime: Bashing England.

Throughout the week expect posts related to the topic of making fun of America's original nemesis. It only makes sense that U.S.A's road to victory start out against our rivals from across the pond, and for once we are the underdogs in the competition. However, if there is one thing America knows how to do it's overcome the odds, so we aren't giving up hope on our boys yet.

Bartman V2!?

Looks like the Rangers now have a scapegoat to blame if they do not win the World Series. This must be the result of some sort of "curse."
On a side note; spite is beautiful.

Nobody's Perfect

Let's get this straight. Fans out there want Bud Selig to over-turn Jim Joyce's call and give Armando Galarraga a perfect game for his effort on June 2nd against the Indians. He shouldn't, plain and simple. Here's why after the jump.

Michael Jordan On Cover of NBA 2K11

Thursday Take-Two Interactive officially announced that the greatest man to ever play basketball will grace their cover. I find it strange that he will be on the cover since he hasn't allowed a virtual representation of himself in a video game since about 2002. Finally players may be able to use him on the 1990's All Star Team and in other game modes. MJ's cover (and the actual game) will be out October 5th. Hopefully it looks just like this:
