2011 NFL Mock Draft

#1 Panthers-QB Blaine Gabbert
Adam Schefter is never wrong… Ever. Last year he said in February that Sam Bradford would be the #1 pick, and this year he says don’t be surprised if the Panthers take the quarterback they prefer out of Newton and Gabbert. Well, I think they prefer Gabbert. I personally wouldn’t draft either one of them, but between them Gabbert doesn’t have the immaturity and intelligence concerns that Newton has. They’re both big with strong arms but wildly inaccurate and come from the spread in college. Character/intelligence is really the only things that are different between these two guys so why wouldn’t Carolina go with the guy that is better in those departments?

#2 Broncos-DE Da’Quan Bowers, Clemson
This pick has to happen. If it doesn’t I bet you the Broncos pick Robert Quinn just to take a defensive end. John Elway is running this team now and he will be thinking like a quarterback. What drives quarterbacks insane more than anything else? An incredible pass rusher that is disrupting their timing the entire game. Add in the fact that John Fox loves athletic defensive ends (he drafted Julius Peppers in his first year in Carolina and traded away a future first round pick for Everette Brown) and that Dq’Quan Bowers is a physical freak of nature and this is nearly a lock. Oh also the Broncos were dead last in the NFL in sacks last year with 23, they need pass rushing help.

Under Construction

You may have noticed that we have stopped updating the site since October this year. This was due to both a lack of free time as well as the compilation of the next step forward. For those who have been with us since the beginning, you know just how far we have come. We're ready to take the next step forward, one which will bring about the biggest changes yet. Realistically, don't expect to see results until around the NFL Draft. However, what I can already promise you is this: A new name, a new layout, a new mission statement, more updates, more articles, more universal analysis for sports (Football, Hockey, Baseball, Basketball, ect..). There are big things on the horizon for 18-1 Productions, and we hope you'll join us when we get there.

Words of Wisdom Wednesday: Adam Schefter is a funny guy

"So I guess Brett Favre can now drive Brad Childress to the airport."
- Adam Schefter, via Twitter

Jets=Biggest Frauds in sports.

Where to begin with the New York Jets? I think I’ll by stating that they are the biggest frauds in all of sports at the moment, as their 8-2 record should be 4-6, but a ton of luck against low quality opponents has allowed the Jets to stay in the race for home field advantage in the AFC. Let’s examine what I’m talking about.

Week 9 Power Rankings

Thank god Calvin was there to save Brees from being hit by that ball.

The Celtics Have Such Wonderful People On Their Roster

Rondo is the dirtiest, not the good "dirty," player in the NBA now that Bruce Bowen is gone.

Paul Pierce is the biggest actor, flopper and cry baby in the NBA.

Garnett elbowed another player last year in the face when the guy called Pierce out on his flopping.

Now this.

Garnett called Charlie Villanueva a "cancer patient" because of his lack of hair. I guess he didn't realize that Villanueva has alopecia universalis, a variation of alopecia areata, an autoimmune skin disease. This results in hair loss on the scalp and/or elsewhere on the body, according to sources including the never-wrong Wikipedia.

"KG talks alot of crap, he's prob never been in a fight, I would love to get in a ring with him, I will expose him," Villanueva Tweeted.

I'd like to see that happen, but include Rondo, Pierce, Kobe, and other NBA All Asshole Team starters in the beat down.

God only knows how class acts like Ray Allen and yeah, SHAQ, ended up on that team.

The Raiders are Still Retarded

Big things. That's what the Raiders promised everyone before the 2010 NFL season began, as they had one of the most productive off-seasons in the league. Not only did they finally ditch modern day Ryan Leaf, Jamarcus Russell, but they were able to get Jason Campbell from the Redskins for next to nothing. Combine this with their first smart draft in years, and Oakland now has a chance to win their division. Of course, things did not turn out that way as the season began. The Raiders lost two of the first three games of the season to Tennessee and Arizona, eventually leading to the Jason Campbell being benched in favor of Bruce Gradakowski.
