1. "The Colts lost the game more than the Saints won it." Not true, one could only argue that because of Peyton's late interception. Besides that the Saints clearly outplayed the Colts. They out-coached them (though it's not hard to out-coach the vegetable that is Jim Caldwell), they out-smarted the Colts on defense, figured out how to pick apart the Colts secondary, and even out-kicked them. Hartley came up with some great plays even beyond the miraculous onside kick(which was his first onside kick attempt ever). He is the first kicker ever to make three field goals of forty-plus yards in the Super Bowl. After a myriad of terrible kicking this season, it was refreshing to see a great performance from a field goal kicker.
Not Garrett Hartley
2. "If you still think Peyton Manning is better than Tom Brady you need to have your head examined."
That is an actual quote I heard from an obvious Patriots fan calling into WFAN NY Sports Radio. He then went on to say the typical "Brady has 3 wins, Peyton not clutch, etc." Pats fans claim that Brady was the sole reason they won all 3 of their Super Bowls. I guess they forget that the most clutch kicker to ever play football, Adam Vinatieri, was on their team too. He kicked a game winning 41 yard field goal and a game winning 48 yard field goal! That means on Brady's "great game winning drives" he was only able to get his team to the 34 and 41 yard line respectively. In the win over the Eagles he only had to kick a 22 yarder but it was still the game winner as Brady didn't do crap in the 4th quarter. I'll admit Peyton isn't the most clutch guy. He probably only won the Super Bowl because of Vinatieri also! Peyton does succeed in the clutch and he does fail just as many times but when avid fans claim that Brady is better simply on his "clutch Super Bowl performances" they are misinformed about facts. Go to the well documented Pro Football Reference site and you can see that Brady has 30 game winning drives/fourth comebacks in his career. That is impressive, but compared to Peyton's 45...not quite as remarkable. Hell, Eli Manning is on pace to get over 30 once he plays as many games Tom has had. So now that we know that Brady is no Kurt Warner in the playoffs we can make a more valid assumption about who is better. Oh, and obviously I don't even need to bring up 18-1.
3. Wait, yes I do. "16-3 is the new 18-1." Sorry Pats fans but thats just no where near true. Yes eventually someone will fail hard and become the new 18-1 but this year was not it. When the 2 best teams play each other in the Super Bowl one of them has to lose...The Colts lost. That is it. Theres nothing really special about the loss. Maybe if the Colts had been praised all season as the best sports team to ever step foot on the Earth, and were guided by the God of all quarterbacks to inevitably fufil the prophet Isiah's word that they will go 19-0, and end up not being able to amount a comeback to a lowly wildcard team that had no chance of winning then this could be the new 18-1. Until something of that level happens just accept the title of failure.
4. Finally, there are STILL people who don't think the Saints are that good. This topic comes with 2 extremes. People who believe in the Saints have formed a GIANT bandwagon and new Saints "fans" have been popping up everywhere since they beat the Vikings. On the other hand there are still haters out there who never gave the Saints a chance, and somehow still don't give them credit. I honestly don't know why...do you?
Also, I find it said that we have to talk about the Patriots or Brady vs. Manning when a great Manning vs. Brees game was just played. I don't hear Giants fans on the radio saying this wasn't as good as the Giants win, or Jets fans coming on saying the first Jets win was bigger...
