Guest Writer Kyle: "This Years USA Olympic Win Over Canada Sucked" - Quote Interpreted by Sassmaster

^Softies^
I am writing to you from Vancouver British Columbia as a Media for eighteen-one.com covering the 2010 Olympic Games.  Actually, no I’m writing from my dorm room at BU and it’s not Boston University.  A couple of weeks ago eighteen-one called me out on their website saying that I was supposed to write an article about the NHL.  That’s that NOT how I’m going to start out.  Instead I’m going to write about how this “Great” US victory over Canada the other night was one of the largest upsets since the US beat the Soviets in 1980.  This game had great moments, when Ryan Kesler scored one the BEST empty net goals I have ever seen (and I’m not joking it was amazing, if you watched you would know), but I’m ranking this game 2nd in games being played between US and Canada THIS YEAR!  Yes you heard me, this year.  How many of you know what the World Junior Hockey Tournament is?  Probably none of you.  And that is why I am so upset that everyone is calling this the best game ever.

Okay yes, we beat Canada, our rivals, and the favorites to win the gold this year.  But the game was only a qualification game.  Canada wasn’t even eliminated!  So now you’re asking how could Junior hockey be any better than professionals?  Here’s why:
Canada is ready to face off with the United States for the Gold medal on their home ice.  But before we get started, some background information.  Canada has just beaten the U.S. in the preliminary matchup early in tournament on New Year’s Eve.  It was a game with 5 lead changes, but the U.S managed to take a 4-2 lead and keep it til' late in the third when Canada scored two unanswered goals to send it to overtime and  a shootout.  Canada would inevitably pull off the upset.
Ignore the homo French announcers.

Now fast forward to the gold medal game.  Canada takes an early lead but the U.S. responds with two quick goals not even a minute apart giving them the lead.  After another goal by Canada the two teams start off the second tied at 2.  After another back and forth period the two teams capitalize on each other’s goals ending the second tied at 3-3.  Now here is where it gets interesting.  An early shorthanded goal puts U.S.A on top and then followed by another U.S. goal just 2 minutes later.  U.S.A is up by 2 in the third and has to hold off a hungry Canadian team that has their entire country watching (does this remind you of something?)  Canada throws everything they have at a young U.S. team which does everything right to fend the highly skilled Canadians away. Until young and highly touted Canadian prospect, Jordan Eberle, gains control of the puck.  Not once, but twice!  Eberle scores two goals in less than 3 minutes to tie the game and once again send it to overtime.  This is the second game in a row that Canada has taken away the lead, and in crushing fashion too!  As overtime started most of us thought how could this young United States team overcome what just happened?  However, after they were able stop the Canadians who were throwing everything at them early in overtime a quick turn around and an odd man rush started for the U.S.  John Carlson led the rush and shot it short side and the rest is history; resulting in one of the BEST hockey games I have ever seen.  Now when the World Junior Hockey Tournament comes to Buffalo next winter all I ask is that you tune in and watch the best young players in the world come together and play some of the most exciting hockey we can witness.
