Pitchers Of The Season (So Far)

As the first month of the 2010 MLB season draws to a close I would like to recognize the pitchers of the year so far. It is only the first month, but since it's the start of the season I felt compelled to point them out. These 2 pros have started the season with near perfect efforts in each appearance. To start the season we have seen many pitchers keep a very low ERA and a get by without suffering even one loss. There's Tim Lincecum, Brady Penny, Francisco Liriano, and Chris Carpenter just to name a few. None of them have performed as well as these two guys, who will be of course announced after the jump.

1. Ubaldo Jimenez has performed AMAZINGLY, especially for a pitcher who plays at Coors Field. He is 5-0 with a .79 ERA. The guy already has a complete game shutout and 31 strikeouts. He is, right now, the best starting pitcher in baseball. He has dominated in every game, even against top ranked (in terms of Runs) teams like the Brewers and Diamondbacks. Of course he has balanced that out with starts against the (not as lowly as usual) Nationals and Padres and Braves.

2. Mike Pelfrey has been pitcher 1a. for the start of the season. Being a Met he is partial to my heart so I would love to put him over Ubaldo but just couldn't do it. Mike started out the season 4-0 with a league leading .69 ERA. Him giving up runs is as rare as France not pussying out in a fight. He's only given up 2 runs in 26 innings pitched. He even got his first career Save during the 20th inning of that marathon Mets-Cardinals game. The only gripe against Mike is he has not gone as deep into games as Ubaldo.
