Cheerleading Officially Not a Sport

Finally! We have officially knocked one off the list. Today a federal judge decided that it cannot be called a sport. The Reuters story is here as MSNBC. Now that we have that settled we are almost there! All we have to do is get rid of NASCAR, golf, swimming, dancing, figure skating, curling, poker, girls sports, WWE, billiards, ping pong, UFC, spelling bees...
Also, this website is AMAZING.

Manly Monday: Steve Nash and Duncan Keith

This weekend Nash re-established himself as the Manly Man/Crazy Canadian of the NBA. During game 3 he was on the receiving end of a headbutt from Derek Fisher. The hit broke Nash's nose but didn't slow him down. He just snapped it back into place to the disgust of his teammate Grant Hill. This isn't his first face injury and the rest of the pics are after the jump.

Top Rap Albums of All Time

This list is in alphabetical order because it is hard enough to put them in order alone, let alone agreeing on all these classic albums. Of course this is purely opinion so please remember to comment on your thoughts and your favorites we may have missed!

FSF: How to Fix the NBA Dunk Contest

This years NBA Dunk Contest fell far short of entertaining. The announcers were even talking about how it failed and what could be done to fix it. Now that the Dwight Howard era is over the NBA needs to either 1) Only allow NBA All-Stars in the contest so that big stars compete, or 2) Allow anyone who is affiliated with the NBA in so that we can see NBA D-League players compete.

Manly Mondays: Don Frye Makes Boxing Look Like Ballet

Don Frye is an American Hero. Some of you may not know who he is or what he did, but that doesn't change the fact that he is a hero. This is Ol' Donnie boy mashing fists with some Japanese pretender. Also, the Japanese guy was probably a terrorist. Full video after the break.

FSF: What Tiger Really Meant

Today, Friday February 19th and 11am EST, was a day that will live in infamy.

That's right, Tiger woods held a 13 and 1/2 minute conference in which he spoke the whole time and answered no questions. He said many things and sounded genuinely sorry, but what did he really mean by the things he said. We at 18-1 have the answers after the break.

Manly Mondays: The Alphabet of Manliness

I know this is old news to most, but some people still have not heard of Maddox's "The Alphabet of Manliness." This  book is "so manly even the sentences don't have periods"(Dan Berman).
The cover starts off this books manliness by depicting an overly muscular dude jump-punching a large gorilla in the face. The only way that could be updated to be more manly(since this was published in '06) is if he were kicking ManBearPig in the balls.
Poorly done, I know. It took 2 minutes.
It's a hilarious read and I recommend picking it up.

Off Topic Tuesday: 08/27/09

Hello reader, welcome to the first addition of Off-Topic Tuesday here at 18-1. This is the weekly column where I, Ted Shaw, will be your guide to a specific thing that is bugging me and I want to rant about. There are no specific rules or guidelines to what that could be, only that it will not be sports related.

Because it's only the first week for this, I thought I would post a piece I submitted to my school paper (The Mirror), but was rejected, probably for being way too awesome. Keep in mind this was written in september, and the topic is relevant to the time. That being said it's funny, and you should read it, because I wrote it goddamnit!
